NAF is not in favour of the development of even part of the Anson Field, however:
At our 1st February meeting with the Anson Trust, NAF asked what we could do to minimise loss of the existing green area if the development was permitted to go ahead.
Neil Rowe and Doug Colkin suggested that they would like to hear from those who will be most closely affected (those of us around the field).
Based on the assumption that (ideally) only half the field would need to be released to a developer how would we like this area to be selected?
It would be necessary to take into account the practicalities of access to roads and services such as power and drainage. These considerations appear to indicate a preference for development close to the Moreland Road end of the field and this also implies that the main traffic impact will be through Moreland Road.
It seems clear to us that the area currently being used as the football pitch will most likely be the centre of any development. The question remains: just how much of the field will remain? How can the remaining green area be protected from some future development onslaught? Can anything be done (a green corridor perhaps?) to keep the development from encroaching too close to our back gardens?
Please let the Anson Trust have your thoughts and let NAF know what you have said to the Trust too.
