I have great sympathy for the members of the Anson Trust, they
are trying to do their best for the village and fulfil the wishes of the Anson
Sisters as is their duty....
BUT
- They have to manage a trust with rapidly dwindling
resources that many good men before them failed to halt the decline of
- They have to satisfy the exceedingly restrictive
requirements placed on them by the Charities Commission
- They have to satisfy the interests of the Oxford Diocesan
Trust
- There are probably awkward conflicts between the interests
of the Oxford Diocesan Trust, The Charities Commission and the wishes of the
Anson Sisters
- They seem (for reasons I fail to understand) unable to take
advantage of any funding and grants available to other organisation
responsible for community facilities
- To protect the interests above they have in the past kept
much of their business secret from the village and their meetings, minutes
and papers are still not fully open to public scrutiny
Provision of a village hall and similar facilities be managed
by a much more publicly visible group able to
- Take advantage of Lottery grants
- Take advantage of EEC grants
- Take advantage of funding for sport in general and the UK
hosted Olympics in particular
- Be able to organise fund raising activities
